Philippians 1:19-26

What are you living for?

If our purpose is wrong the path, the direction we’re going is going to be wrong. If our purpose is fuzzy or vague our path/direction is going to be fuzzy or vague.

  1. What does it look like to live as Christ?
    • Exalt Christ in everything you do.
Paul’s focus is exalting Christ no matter what happens.Don’t underestimate the power of influence you have with your life. Your words, attitudes and behavior provide credibility of your faith. You either bring shame or glory to His name.
    • Serving other people.
Die to selfish desires to serve other people.
God hasn’t called you to sit but to serve.
  2. How is death gain?
You should not desire death because life is hard.
Biblical men who struggled with depression:
    Moses (Numbers 11:15)
    Elijah (1 Kings 19:3-5
    Jonah (Jonah)

Suicide is not the answer.
To die is gain means as Christ followers death leads to a return on our investment.
Paul knew death would usher him into the Lord’s presence.
1 Corinthians 15-58
Death brings you eternal rewards.
Death take down tent (earthly body) and move on. (v.23)
